Google says goodbye to Orkut

Google Inc. will shut down its first social networking service Orkut which was launched almost 10 years ago but failed to put Google ahead. When the company introduced Orkut it was just 20% project. Google reported that they will close the services of Orkut on September 30th which is being widely used in Brazil and India. The company will now focus on their other’s social networking initiatives.
From the past few years, You Tube, Blogger and Google + has been widely used with different communities starting in every corner of the world. Because the growth of these various communities has overtaken Orkut’s growth, the company decided to shut down Orkut. Google reported this on a blog on Orkut on Monday. It is also cleared that until then there will be no impact on current Orkut users. They are giving user’s time to export their profile data, community posts and photos using Google’s Take out which will be available until September 2016. But from now onwards no one will be able to create new account on Orkut. Orkut was firstly launched in 2004, on the same year Facebook was also launched. Facebook has now become world’s 1 social networking site with 1.28 billion users all over the world.
